Methodology & About

What this site is, how sources and public data are handled, and where the evidence cannot support a broader claim.

About this site

Robotaxi Price Index is an independent informational reference. It is not operated by or endorsed by Tesla, Waymo, Uber, Lyft or the publications cited.

Source tiers and citation roles

Primary: operator pages, help centers, investor materials and direct executive statements. Research: published studies or structured pricing reports. Secondary: reputable reporting. Estimate: analysis with assumptions; never presented as a list price or measured result. In the downloadable dataset, source_role marks the lead citation as primary and additional corroboration as supporting; this relationship role is separate from the editorial source_tier.

Mapping, deduplication and stable IDs

The public dataset is generated with an explicit field-by-field mapping from the site's data/*.json. Known duplicate facts represented in both fares.json and cities.json become one observation with a stable human-readable ID, while source_data_paths preserves every contributing input location. Sources use deterministic URL-derived IDs.

Date precision and numeric normalization

Dates remain exactly as supported by the input evidence: YYYY, YYYY-MM or YYYY-MM-DD, paired with date_precision. The exporter never invents a month or day. Numeric fields are populated only when a claim supports a scalar or explicit range; the original lossless claim remains in value_text.

How figures are handled

Each retained data record stores a sources array with a name, specific HTTPS URL and tier. Observations are kept within their scope: one trip is not a rate formula; a target is not current performance; a membership is not prepaid fare.

Dataset reproducibility and licensing

The pure-standard-library exporter writes CSV, complete JSON, metadata and a field dictionary deterministically. The original database selection, arrangement, normalization and annotations are offered under CC BY 4.0. Third-party linked materials and trademarks are excluded; see the dataset release and NOTICE.

Updates, corrections and limitations

The site shows its last substantive update date. Corrections are made directly in the structured data, then the dataset and pages are rebuilt. Fares can change by route, demand, fees, promotions and time, so readers must confirm live prices in the operator app. Source URLs may change or disappear, and source content may carry its own usage restrictions.

Commercial independence

There are no current affiliate relationships. If that changes, relevant pages will disclose the relationship.

Sources & method

Figures are separated into primary operator statements, secondary reporting and clearly labeled estimates. Read the full methodology, limitations and correction policy.
